The Hills Cider Company was launched on Australia Day January 2010 by Steve Dorman and Tobias Kline. Prior to establishing The Hills Cider Company, Steve and Toby spent a number of years experimenting with Apple and Pear fruit varietals, blends, styles and regions to come up with in the highest quality, craft Apple and Pear Cider that you can enjoy drinking today.
The Hills Cider Company was founded on one belief: To Craft and Create Australia's Best Cider Utilising 100% Fresh Adelaide Hills Fruit with no added concentrate, sugar, flavour or water.
Very early in our creation we realized that the Adelaide Hills and it's generations of Apple and Pear growers were producing some of the best quality fruit in Australia. It was this factor that drew us in to begin producing our Ciders from The Adelaide Hills. Sourcing our fruit from this region in turn supports farmers throughout the Hills including those around the Ashton, Lenswood, Lobethal and Basket Ranges to name a few.
Once we sourced the best fresh fruit we set out using the skills we have established over our working lives to craft what we believe is one of Australia best cider ranges. Our Apple and Pear Ciders are fruit driven (actually taste like real fruit), well balanced, not sweet, are crisp, fresh and finish dry! They are worth the experience…
Steve Dorman brought to the table his many years of Wine Making experience and through his corporate upbringing and training was able to use his skills in production and product development to craft one of Australia best made Apple and Pear Ciders. Throughout his Wine Making career he had the chance to do a number of vintages in Italy and France where he started his first foray into the crafting of high quality cider. He still is at the helm of The Hills Cider Company overseeing and creating our products, ensuring the highest quality at every stage.
Tobias Kline has had a well regarded background in on-premise hospitality, running arguably one of the most dynamic venues in Australia, The Lion Hotel. He has also worked with some of Australia's top beverage brands putting together plans for growth and execution of sales and marketing. His belief lies in training front line staff to deliver brand growth for The Hills Cider Company.
We have also enlisted the help of Julien Ryan, a specialist in building craft companies in Australia, with over 10+ years working with in the craft beer and cider markets across four states, loves the on premise industry and has a passion of building brands and educating consumers. His understanding of venue needs will help us deliver the highest levels of customer service in the industry.
Together Steve and Toby have been able to grow the company into a well known brand whose product must be tasted to realize their quality and hand crafted nature. There range of ciders have been highly regarded and rewarded including being recognized as Best Australian Pear Cider and Best Pear Cider In Class at the 2011 Australian Cider Awards. The Apple also scored the highest points in it’s class for an Australian Made Cider.
